It rained on the 25th, a much needed watering!
The two eggs in the middle are from the same hen. She is the first of the BCM First-generation hens to be backcrossed with a BCM roo. She is a hen that meets the SOP ( Standard of Perfection) for the breed. I will begin hatching her eggs in February 2022
The rain has been falling since late last night. It has construed all day long. We did encounter some flooding in the coop as a result of the raking to remove chicken poop the past couple of years. We added some soil in it
Due to the rain we had on Thursday the Friday visit by Sierra Vista was postponed until the new year.
For the first time since we received the pigs, they were able to get out of their pen and come on campus. Actually one of the pigs made its way off campus. Only to return in a full trot. It took a student body and food to lure the pigs back into their pen.
The new pigs are Potbellies. The pigs were donated by Lacey Lahn. They came with the given names of Crispy Baken and Peppe. We think the more appropriate names for them should be Jerry and Doc, for Mr. Adams, and Mr. Stager the Principal and interim principal this year at HHS.
Classes have been coming to see the new pigs. Mr. Smith, Ms. R, Ms. Saranana amoung others have had their class on the farm.
This week the emphasis was on the installation of the main electrical panel, electrical boxes, and, lighting cans in the framing. The class also completed the installation of the exterior wood trim around the windows, and one piece that had gotten damaged during construction.
HHS hatched eight chicks in preparation for the Sierra Vista Elem School visit.
This hatch we have 2 blue eggs/ 3 Olive eggs/ 3 dark brown eggs / one tan egg. Note: One chick of the nine that hatched did not survive. Eight total.
