Wind Event in the Inland Empire

Upland had a sustained 33 mph wind with 72 mph peaks on Friday night knocking out power to most of Upland. On Saturday morning I made my way to school to check for damage. The school held up pretty well. One branch from the pepper tree next to the coop. With the power out the automatic chicken door did not open, with the power out the heat lamps for the chicks in the coop were out, with the power out the incubator in room 13 went off. With the heavy winds, the sunscreen was messed up and down.

I was told Euclid Ave. was like a war zone. The intersection traffic lights at the corner of 9th and Monte Vista were out. When coming to school, while stopped on 9th street ready to cross, a car came zooming down Monte Vista and made no effort to stop driving through the intersection.  On 11th street in front of Cabrillo Elem. a large tree fell crossing the entire street.

Here are some photos of around my home.....

This tree was planted around 1982

Chimney Took Direct Hit!

Amazing that it took the curb and gutter with it.

Created a cool skating ramp
